Phoenix Data Systems CEO Named to the 2006 PharmaVOICE 100

King of Prussia, Pa., August 14, 2006 – Phoenix Data Systems (PDS), a leading provider of full service electronic data capture (EDC), announces that Dr. William Claypool, M.D., CEO of PDS, has been named to the PharmaVOICE 100 by PharmaVOICE magazine. The annual list highlights industry thought leaders who most influence corporate strategy, business development, research and development, marketing and creativity, technology, leadership and innovation in the field.

As CEO of PDS and Chairman of its Board of Directors, Dr. Claypool has molded an organization focused on delivering innovation through technology-driven services to the biopharmaceutical industry. As a result, PDS has experienced outstanding growth over the last five years, emerging as a leader in the EDC marketplace.

As VP for Worldwide Clinical Development and Medical Affairs at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals in the 1990s, Dr. Claypool oversaw all clinical research programs for SmithKline Beecham (Phases I - IV). He established EDC (then called RDE) as the preferred data entry platform in R&D before the merger with Glaxo. Dr. Claypool joined PDS in 2001 and implemented a unique system and business model that has helped sponsors improve patient safety and monitoring, weed-out unproductive trials and take maximum advantage of opportunities to modify and improve their clinical studies.
