Mr. Andrus, Vice President, Clinical Data Management & Regulatory Operations for PDS, has been on the board of SCDM for several years and was chosen as a result of his active involvement. SCDM is a non-profit professional society founded to advance the discipline of Clinical Data Management. Mr. Andrus will lead the Society in its efforts to improve the safety and efficiency of pharmaceutical research through programs for standardization, education, and certification and to provide a voice for its membership in industry discussion. “When adopting new technology and processes in the clinical trials space, it really comes down to best practices,” said Andrus. “Our focus this year is to both assist members with these best practices and to serve as a resource on the use and management of industry standards and best practices.” Mr. Andrus’ broader goals for 2008 include raising the visibility of the Society, increasing membership, increasing the society’s voice on behalf of its membership, and looking at ways to make the society’s products and services have a more global outlook. “Rapid advances in clinical technology have impacted the role of data managers, driving the need for, and the growth of, the Society. PDS is one of the few technology companies that also contain a data management component,” adds Andrus. “I see the value that only the human component can provide every day.” Mr. Andrus previously served as Vice Chair of SCDM and has been heavily involved since his involvement with the society some ten years ago. In 2004, Mr. Andrus helped to lay out a five-year strategic plan outlining where they would to like to see the association in 2009.
